Description:
A foam fire extinguishing system typically includes a fire pump, a water supply source, a foam concentrate storage unit, a foam proportioning device, a foam generating device, and the necessary piping. The proportioning device accurately mixes foam concentrate with water at the correct ratio to produce a foam solution. The foam generating device then converts this solution into expanded air foam, which is discharged onto the fire to achieve extinguishment. The primary extinguishing effect is achieved through foam coverage, submergence, cooling, and oxygen exclusion.

| Working principle: When pressurised water from the supply pump enters the proportioning mixer through the inlet pipe and valve, most of the water flows through the main pipeline and the throttling unit of the mixer. Due to fluid dynamics, a low-pressure zone is created downstream of the throttling unit. A small portion of the water is diverted into the feed pipe and enters the foam storage tank, where it exerts pressure on the internal diaphragm. This action forces the foam concentrate inside the bladder to be discharged through the outlet pipe and valve into the low-pressure zone of the proportioning mixer. The water and foam concentrate are then automatically mixed in the correct ratio, forming a foam solution that is delivered through the pipeline to foam generators and spray nozzles for fire suppression. In many practical engineering applications, electric ball valves are required on both the inlet water pipe and the foam outlet pipe of the tank, along with a local control panel. The operating logic is as follows: Automatic Operation: When the control panel is set to automatic mode and a fire signal is received, the electric ball valves (220V) on the inlet and outlet pipes open automatically. When the fire signal ceases, both valves close automatically. The control panel features status indicators (open/closed), and the valve feedback contact is active (220V). If passive feedback contacts are needed, this must be specified at the time of ordering. Manual Operation: When the control panel is set to manual mode, the operator can use the designated buttons on the panel to open or close the inlet and outlet electric ball valves sequentially. In the event of a power failure at the control panel, the electric valves can be manually operated using the supplied manual override wrench. |
