Product Description

IG55 Gas Cylinder – 30MPa Inert Gas Fire Suppression System Core Container

The IG55 gas cylinder is the core storage container for the 30MPa inert gas fire suppression system, specifically designed to hold IG55 blended gas (50% nitrogen + 50% argon). This high-pressure seamless steel cylinder safely stores the extinguishing agent and is widely used in commercial fire protection projects such as data centers, telecommunication rooms, electrical switchgear rooms, and museums.

Product Overview

The IG55 gas cylinder is manufactured from high-strength chrome-molybdenum steel or manganese steel, processed through precision heat treatment and high-pressure testing to safely withstand 30MPa working pressure. The cylinder is equipped with a container valve that integrates filling, sealing, discharge, pressure relief, and manual/pneumatic actuation functions. Designed to comply with GB5099, DOT, and ISO standards, each cylinder undergoes hydrostatic pressure testing and leak testing to ensure long-term storage reliability and safety. Every cylinder is strictly inspected before delivery and can be combined with cylinder racks, manifolds, and pilot cylinder assemblies to form a complete fire suppression system.
Corrosion-Resistant IG55 Inert Gas Cylinder for Electrical Room Fire Safety Equipment

Applicable Places

The IG55 gas cylinder system is suitable for the following commercial and industrial applications:

  • Data Centers & Server Rooms – 80L cylinders are centrally placed in the cylinder room, delivering agent through piping to IT equipment areas under raised floors

  • Telecommunication Base Stations & Switch Rooms – Single or dual cylinders can be arranged in equipment room corners to maximize limited space

  • Electrical Switchgear & UPS Rooms – Protects high-voltage electrical equipment; IG55 is non-conductive for guaranteed safety

  • Museums & Archives – Protects valuable collections; agent leaves no residue and causes no damage to artifacts

  • Control Centers & Instrument Rooms – Protects critical control equipment, ensuring business continuity

  • Bank Vaults & Warehouses – Secures cash, securities, and important documents

  • Generator Rooms & Industrial Facilities – Fire protection for diesel generator sets and production equipment

Product Structure

Component Material/Specification Function Description
Cylinder Body Chrome-molybdenum steel / Manganese steel Withstands 30MPa high pressure; stores IG55 agent
Container Valve Copper alloy / Stainless steel Seals the cylinder; integrates actuation, filling, and pressure relief
Safety Diaphragm Special alloy Bursts to release pressure in case of over-pressurization
Pressure Gauge Stainless steel Displays real-time cylinder pressure for daily inspection
Pneumatic Actuator Aluminum alloy Receives pilot gas to puncture diaphragm and open valve
Manual Actuator Stainless steel Enables manual valve opening in emergency situations
Retaining Ring & Chain Steel Prevents loss of the anti-discharge cap

Core Advantages

  • 30MPa High-Pressure Storage – Reduces cylinder quantity by 25%-50% compared to traditional 15MPa systems, significantly saving cylinder room floor space

  • 80L Standard Capacity – Single cylinder holds 34.06kg of IG55 agent, sufficient for medium-sized protected zones

  • Dual Activation Modes – Equipped with both pneumatic and manual activation for reliable operation in all emergencies

  • Comprehensive Safety Protection – Fitted with safety diaphragm (burst pressure 46MPa) to prevent hazards from abnormal over-pressurization

  • Constant Pressure Discharge Design – Works with pressure reducing devices to achieve constant 6MPa low-pressure discharge, reducing piping costs and impact force

  • Refillable & Reusable – After system discharge, cylinders can be quickly refurbished and refilled without replacement

  • Traceable Periodic Inspection – Cylinders are inspected every 5 years per seamless steel cylinder standards; clear stamped markings on the cylinder body

  • Broad Compatibility – Compatible with standard pipe fittings, cylinder racks, and manifolds for various engineering configurations

Working Principle

When a fire occurs in the protected zone, the fire alarm control panel outputs a start signal to the solenoid actuator, which opens the pilot gas cylinder to release nitrogen. The nitrogen passes through the pilot line to activate the pneumatic actuator, puncturing the container valve diaphragm and opening the container valve. IG55 agent is discharged under high pressure through flexible hoses into the manifold, then directed by selector valves to the corresponding protected zone piping network, and finally discharged from nozzles. This reduces the oxygen concentration in the protected area to below 15%, achieving smothering fire suppression.

In emergencies, operators can manually remove the safety pin and press the manual actuation handle to mechanically open the container valve.

Installation & Maintenance Guidelines

  • Cylinders must be secured upright on dedicated cylinder racks, neatly arranged with at least 1 meter clearance on the operating side

  • Cylinder room temperature must be maintained between 0℃~50℃, away from direct sunlight

  • Weekly inspection of pressure gauge readings – normal range: 27MPa~30MPa (at 20℃)

  • Annual inspection of the cylinder body and container valve for corrosion, damage, or leakage

  • Cylinders must be periodically inspected every 5 years per seamless steel cylinder standards

  • After system discharge, cylinders must be professionally refurbished and refilled

Packaging & Transportation

Each IG55 gas cylinder is wrapped in foam protection and packed in a sturdy wooden case. Pallets are provided as required by customer specifications or international shipping standards to ensure safe transport. Cylinders must remain upright and securely fixed during transportation – rolling, dragging, or impact is strictly prohibited.
