Product Description

Product Overview

The Pre-Engineered FM200 Storage Cylinder is a high-pressure vessel specifically designed for storing HFC-227ea (FM200) clean agent fire extinguishing agent. It is a core component of gas fire suppression systems. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant steel with a red epoxy coating, each cylinder is fully assembled and strictly pressure-tested before delivery.

Extinguishing Agent / Working Medium: HFC-227ea (FM200), colourless, odourless, low-toxicity, non-conductive, residue-free, with zero ODP.

Main Functions: Safe storage of FM200 agent, providing functions including agent sealing, release, refilling, overpressure relief, and pressure indication. The cylinder can be activated pneumatically or manually to release the agent.

System Positioning: As the core storage component of pipe network systems, cabinet fire suppression units, and external storage systems, it provides reliable agent reserve for protected areas. Cylinders can be used individually or in multiple-cylinder configurations to meet the fire protection needs of projects of various scales.

Key Benefits

Corrosion-Resistant Design – Built for Harsh Environments
Red epoxy coating effectively resists moisture, salt spray, and chemical corrosion. Operating temperature range covers -10°C to +50°C, particularly suitable for high-temperature and high-humidity environments in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Pre-Engineered – Shortens Project Timeline
Fully assembled and pressure-tested before delivery. On-site work requires only connection of the start-up pipeline and power cable, significantly reducing construction time and installation costs.

Dual Pressure Ratings – Flexible Selection
Available in 4.2MPa and 5.6MPa pressure ratings, with capacities from 40L to 180L. Flexible selection based on protected area size and system design requirements.

Precision Sealing – Low Maintenance Cost
Special sealing structure in the container valve requires no parts replacement during refilling. Safety relief device automatically releases pressure to ensure system safety.

Applicable Conditions & Selection Notes

  • Cylinders should be installed vertically in a dedicated cylinder room at -10°C to +50°C, kept dry and well-ventilated

  • Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources

  • Calculate required agent quantity based on protected area volume and design concentration to determine cylinder capacity and quantity

  • 4.2MPa system is suitable for most conventional protected areas; 5.6MPa system is suitable for space-constrained locations or applications requiring higher storage density

  • When using multiple cylinders, ensure consistent specifications for ease of maintenance

Working Principle & System Integration

Working Principle

In standby mode, the cylinder stores FM200 agent with the container valve closed. When a fire occurs:

  1. Fire detectors transmit signals to the fire alarm control panel

  2. The control panel confirms the fire alarm and outputs DC24V activation current

  3. The solenoid valve activates, releasing high-pressure nitrogen (6.0±1.0MPa) from the drive gas cylinder

  4. Nitrogen opens the container valve on the agent cylinder through the start-up pipeline

  5. FM200 agent, driven by its own pressure and the nitrogen, flows through the siphon tube, flexible hose, manifold, and pipe network to the nozzles

  6. The agent rapidly vaporises in the protected area, establishing the extinguishing concentration for total flooding suppression

System Components

Component Function
FM200 Storage Cylinder Stores agent – core component
Container Valve Controls agent release; pneumatic/manual activation
Siphon Tube Ensures complete agent discharge from cylinder bottom
Flexible Hose Connects container valve to manifold
Liquid Check Valve Prevents agent backflow
Manifold Collects agent from multiple cylinders
Safety Relief Valve Automatic pressure relief during overpressure
Drive Nitrogen Cylinder Provides activation power
Selector Valve Controls agent flow direction in combined distribution systems
Pipe Network & Nozzles Transports and distributes agent evenly
Fire Alarm Control Panel Detects fire and issues activation command

Connection Method

Cylinders are connected to the manifold via flexible hoses. The manifold collects agent from all cylinders and delivers it through liquid check valves and the pipe network to the nozzles in the protected area. The drive nitrogen cylinder is connected to each agent cylinder's container valve via the start-up pipeline for synchronous activation. In combined distribution systems, selector valves open the pipeline to the affected protected area based on the fire signal.

FAQ

Q1: How to choose the working pressure of the cylinder?

A: The 4.2MPa system is suitable for most conventional protected areas with mature technology and wide application. The 5.6MPa system offers higher storage density and is suitable for space-constrained locations or applications requiring fewer cylinders. Selection should be based on protected area volume, design concentration, and available space.

Q2: Can the cylinder be refilled and reused?

A: Yes. The FM200 cylinder is a refillable container. The container valve features a special sealing structure that requires no parts replacement during normal agent refilling. After system discharge, a qualified service provider can refill the agent and nitrogen to restore the system to service.

Q3: Can the anti-corrosion coating withstand the high-temperature and high-humidity environment of the Middle East?

A: Yes. The cylinder surface is finished with red epoxy coating for effective resistance to moisture, salt spray, and chemical corrosion. The operating temperature range covers -10°C to +50°C, and the cylinder room temperature range is -10°C to +50°C, adapting to the high-temperature and high-humidity environments of the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Q4: What periodic inspections are required for the cylinder?

A: Monthly visual inspection, annual weighing inspection (if leakage exceeds 5% of filling quantity, refill or replace), and periodic inspection in accordance with the "Gas Cylinder Safety Technical Supervision Regulations" before continued use.

Q5: Do you offer customization services?

A: Yes. We can customize pressure rating, cylinder capacity, container valve type, coating colour, nameplate marking, and packaging upon request. Please contact us with your specific requirements, and we will provide a customized solution and quotation.
